Abstract

The Skyharp is a “virtual instrument” designed to collect visual and audio information from natural dynamic systems found in selected outdoor environments. This information, converted to computer data, is subsequently used to generate an electroacoustic soundscape composition that is performed in real time within this environment. The authors describe the original design of this instrument, several compositions that have been realized with the instrument, and its current level of implementation.
