After thirteen shock treatments, seven psychiatric hospitalizations, umpteen therapists, and a truck load of drugs, I've been well now for some thirty years. A larger part of recovery goes to a combination of the advances made in mental health research and most certainly to my wife, Julie. The poem attempts to get at specifics "examples" of the kinds of things that were left after all that.
