A number of individuals have been supportive and helpful in the preparation of this the second issue of CallalooArt, an annual publication whose first number was published during the autumn quarter of 2014. Not a small number of general readers, students of art, and specialists in the discipline rallied in appreciation and support of its inaugural publication. I want to thank these supporters, collectively, for their collegial good will and advice. And if any of them chance to read the current issue of CallalooArt or merely thumb through it, they will find their imprint, as voice or hand, in the creation of this installment of the journal. In short, I hear you.

I also want to express my gratitude to the devoted and indefatigable members of the Callaloo staff for the invaluable contributions each of them makes daily to help conceive and produce and promote issues of the journal, as well as to help sustain its other projects, from the publication of volumes in the Callaloo African Diaspora Series to the annual mounting of the Callaloo Conference and the annual Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop. Smart, professional, and well educated, this team of three has not only been a delightful crew to work with; they have also proven be an undeniable source of unmatched progress for Callaloo and its various cultural concerns.

Recent contributors to both Callaloo and CallalooArt can recall the extraordinary service and contributions Jackson Brown made during his short but sterling tenure as Managing Editor overseeing the daily operations of the office and of the journal and its various outreach projects and other responsibilities. He is, by far, the best Managing Editor we have had these thirty-nine years of Callaloo. Before he left for his new and impressive appointment at the University of Texas in Austin, he also assisted in the planning of this issue of CallalooArt, as well as the next two issues of Callaloo. So have Katy Karasek, Production Editor, and Hannah Waugh-McMurry, Program Coordinator, both of whom worked closely and patiently with me in completing this issue of CallalooArt. Without the support and dedication of these three members of the Callaloo staff, this issue of CallalooArt would still be an idea in the making.

I am also grateful to non-in-house staff and friends for assisting me in various ways to bring this issue of the journal to its present state: Robert Anderson, Norman & Betty Fletcher Baylor, Óscar Berrío, Anthony Bogues, LeRonn P. And if you discover errors or mistakes of any kind in this issue of CallalooArt, let it be known that those flaws are not theirs; they are mine.

Whoever said an editor is the life of a periodical—quarterly or otherwise? I am here to disabuse you of that mistaken notion: a journal or any other periodical is only as good as the harmonious collaboration that the editor, his/her staff, and supporters help to create, maintain, and build together.
