AAAG is pleased to announce the first annual cycle of its AAAG Student Diversity Award. This award is designed to promote diversity in the AAAG and help students defray the costs of attending the AAAG-sponsored meetings and educational workshops.

Award

One award of $300 to attend the SMBE Satellite Meeting on the Genetics of Admixed Populations to be held in San Antonio, Texas, May 18 to 20. Award selection is overseen by the AAAG Under-represented Groups Scholarship Committee.

Eligibility

  • • Undergraduate or graduate students who are members of historically and emerging under-represented ethnic and cultural groups in anthropological genetics (African American, Latino, American Indian/Alaska Native/First Nations, or Pacific Islander).

  • • Enrolled in a regionally accredited university in the United States or Canada, or if outside, a university with equivalent accreditation.

  • • AAAG members in good standing.

Materials

Candidates should submit a one-page statement summarizing their research interests in anthropological genetics and how they would benefit from attending the SMBE Satellite Meeting on the Genetics of Admixed Populations.
