LEONARDO DIGITAL REVIEWS Leonardo publishes reviews of books, digital publications (CD-ROMs, on-line works, World Wide Web sites), audio CDs and tapes, events and exhibitions. Accepted reviews are published either in Leonardo Digital Reviews (a section of our electronicjournal, Leonardo Electronic Almanac), on our Leonardo World Wide Web site (http://mitpress. mit.edu/ejournals/Leonardo/ home.html) or in our printjournals Leonardo or Leonardo Music[ournal. We do not accept unsolicited reviews . Individuals interested in joining the Leonardo reviews panel should email a brief professional biography with an example of a review to leo@mitpress.mit.edu. Karen O'Rourke Wins Leonardo Award for Excellence The internationaljournal Leonardo is pleased to announce that artist Karen O'Rourke has been awarded the Leonardo Award for Excellence for her article "Paris Reseau;" published in Vol. 30, No.1 (1996) ofthe printjournal Leonardo. Karen O'Rourke is an American artist who has been living in Paris for a number ofyears. She teaches at the Universite de Paris I (Pantheon-Sorbonne), where she is "Maitre de conferences" in art and communication and "Directeur adjoint" de Centre d'Etudes et de Recherches en Arts Plastiques (CERAP). Since the publication of her article in Leonardo, O'Rourke, along with several other members of the art group Art-Reseaux, has created an exhibition version ofParisRiseau that has been shown in several locations, beginning with a show called "Arte Tecnologia" at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sao Paulo, Brazil, in December 1995. O'Rourke has also created a World Wide Web version of the project and is currently working on the CD-ROM publication of ParisReseau. The Leonardo Award for Excellence is awarded in recognition of excellence in articles published in Leonardo. Previous winners of the prize include RudolfArnheim, Otto Piene, Charles Ames, Frieda Stahl, Donna Cox,Janet Saad-Cook, George Gessert and Alvin Curran. Reviews 159 ...
