Leonardo/lSAST NEWS Nicolas Collins Named LMJ Editor We are pleased to announcethat Nicolas Collins hasjoined the Leonardo Music Journal editorial board and staff in the newly developed position of Editor in Chief. As Editor in Chief, Collins will assume primary responsibility for directing the content of LMJ, its CD series and its World Wide Web site. Collins is a composer who has helped pioneer the use of quirky hybrids of high and low technology in live performance . Born in New York City, Collins was artistic director of Stichting STElM in Amsterdam for several years and has long been active as a curator of concerts and sound installations . He currently resides in Berlin. Nake is a professor of Graphic Data Processingand Interactive Systems at the Department of Informatics, University of Bremen, Germany. His current research interests are in computer graphics, document processing, hypermedia, computer art, design of interactive systems, computers in education and informatics theory. He has published in all of these areas (mainlyin German ) and has an extensive teaching record at all levels of computer science. Roy R. Behrens Joins LDR Panel Roy R. Behrens has joined the Leonardo Digital Reviews panel for a 3-year term. Behrens is a professor of art at the Universityof Northern Iowa, where he teaches graphic design and design history. He is editor of Ballast Quarterly Review , contributing editor of Print and former art director of The North American Review. Among his publications are three books (Art and Camouflage, Design in the VisualArts and Illustration as an Art) and more than 100 articles on subjects related to art and design. In 1995, he receivedthe Donald McKay ResearchAward and, in 1996, the Faculty ExcellenceAward from the Iowa Board of Regents.
