In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • Editorial Note
  • Graham MacPhee

This special issue on “The Banalization of War” has, sadly, been made all the more timely by the November 2015 terror attacks in Paris and the subsequent shootings in San Bernardino, California, and by the immediate political and popular responses to them in Europe and the United States. For the record, this special issue went to press before these events.

I would like to thank all of our contributors for their intellectual engagement with the questions raised by this special issue, and for their hard work and good humor in meeting tight deadlines. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to my co-editor, Angela Naimou, for sharing so imaginatively and generously in the commitment to thinking which animates this project.
