Surreptitious Publication of the Spurious Volume IX of Tristram Shandy

This note provides a brief survey of the problems that have been caused in translation and criticism, and to librarians and collectors, by the three editions of the anonymous spurious Volume IX of Tristram Shandy. All three were declared to be published by Durham and Caslon; this note identifies the printer and the actual publisher of the second edition.
