MAY 2015

8th–10th The 2015 China-ASEAN Expo Indonesian Exhibition takes place in Jakarta, Indonesia. Jointly arranged by the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) Secretariat and the Department of Commerce of Guangxi (China), this exhibition aims to expand Indonesian exports to China, bringing business communities of both sides closer, and to deepen and elevate Guangxi’s economic and trade ties with Indonesia.
10th The Fifth ASEAN Plus Three Training Programme on “Understanding China” takes place at Beijing Foreign Studies University, convening diplomats and government officials from ASEAN countries who work in China-related positions. Thirteen participants join the three-week programme, which includes lectures led by top scholars and visits to government institutions and major enterprises, to enhance their understanding of China in various areas including economics, politics and law.
18th Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming meets with the delegation headed by Khamphao Ernthavanh, permanent secretary of the Permanent Secretary Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Laos. Both sides exchange views on pushing forward China-Laos relations, and enhancing communication and cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
27th Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli meets with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Yim Chhay Ly, who is attending the Asia-Europe Meeting Industry Dialogue on Connectivity, in Chongqing, China. Zhang says China-Cambodian friendship has been consolidated and stood the test. Yim says Cambodia is appreciative of China’s support and assistance to the country’s economic and social development, and is ready to deepen pragmatic cooperation with China in various fields under the “Belt and Road” framework.
29th May–1st June The second edition of the China-ASEAN Expo Cultural Exhibition, a major programme by the Ministry of Culture of China to celebrate China-ASEAN Cultural Exchange Year, takes place at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center in Guangxi province. The exhibition features the cultural industry, intangible cultural heritage, education on culture and cultural tourism, etc., of China and ASEAN countries.

2nd–8th The Fourth China-ASEAN Music Week, organised by Guangxi Institute of the Arts, is held in Nanning, Guangxi province. Musicians, composers and musicologists from over 20 countries, mainly from Asia, and others from Europe and America, participate in the event that features symphonic and chamber concerts, musicology seminars and a composing competition and international master classes.
3rd–4th Senior officials from 10 ASEAN countries and deputy secretary general of ASEAN attend the 21st China-ASEAN Senior Officials’ Consultation held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. The meeting is co-chaired by Deputy Permanent Secretary Noppadon Theppitak of the Foreign Ministry of Thailand and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin.
  Both sides agree to firmly adhere to the correct direction of the development of China-ASEAN relations, deepen political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, jointly promote the building of the 21st century Maritime Silk Road and actively implement the “2+7 cooperation framework”, so as to jointly build a closer China-ASEAN community of common destiny.
  The senior officials agree to expedite the formulation of the Plan of Action to Implement the Joint Declaration on ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity (2016–2020), and to jointly host commemorative activities for the upcoming 25th anniversary of the establishment of the China-ASEAN dialogue relations next year.
9th The East Asia Summit (EAS) Senior Officials Meeting, held in Kuching, Malaysia, convenes senior officials from 10 member countries of ASEAN, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Russia. All participating parties have agreed to enhance communication, coordination and cooperation, jointly implement the Action Plan to Implement the Phnom Penh Declaration on EAS Development, and strengthen cooperation in six key areas of energy and environmental protection, finance, education, public health, disaster...
