Editor’s Note

My assistant this year has been Qingyuan Jiang, who is in his fourth year in Notre Dame’s PhD in literature program. His dissertation focuses on British and Irish modernist novels and the imagination of sacred spaces, especially how domestic and exotic sacred spaces may affect characters and narratives in the novel as a specific genre. Coming from China, he also takes the circulation of knowledge between East and West at the turn of the century as a side interest.

Kelsie Potter has served as Marion Rust’s editorial assistant for the book review section. A senior at the University of Kentucky, Kelsie is double majoring in English and integrated strategic communication with a minor in theater. As a member of Sigma Tau Delta (the national English Honors Society), the recipient of a 2014 Fulbright Grant to study at the Globe Theatre in London, and editor in chief of Shale, the university’s undergraduate literary journal, Kelsie brings a wealth of experience and insight to her position with EAL. She also happens to be brilliant with databases.
