Abstract

The closing performance at the Aboriginal Pavilion during the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad, Marie Clements’s The Road Forward, originally an eight-minute live musical installation, has since developed into a full-length rock musical that has twice played the PuSh Festival in Vancouver. In this interview Clements talks about her impetus for the Olympiad Commission, how the work has changed in the years since, and the role of the Olympics in showcasing Indigenous arts and culture in British Columbia.
