Ode to Mountains and Rivers: The Development of a Large Mixed-Media Mural

The author describes his recent mural work done in ‘Li Fen’, a wall painting technique created by folk artists in ancient China and still being used by Chinese mural painters today. Some new methods and tools of the technique, which have been developed by the author, are explained. The author also discusses the relationship between the wall painting and the internal environment of the building, pointing out that the compositional design and coloring method are essential to solving the problems faced by mural artists.
