Manual skills, such as freehand drawing, have long been a prerequisite to artistic creation in many traditional media. Using examples from his own work in creating computer-generated envelopes, the author shows how computers can assist explorations by those otherwise frustrated by lack of such skills. He also discusses aesthetic and philosophical concepts related to his work.
