Abstract

The author describes his paintings and drawings from 1960 to the present. Influenced by Pop art made in the U.S.A., he adopted the use of large canvases. He traces the change in subject matter treated, beginning with objects from present-day life in industrialized societies and limited views of persons in action, such as a hand holding a cigarette, and terminating in detailed pictures of the tread patterns of automobile tires.

He describes his works as representative of his quest for ways of presenting objects in isolation, with the minimum of emotional pictorial content. He believes that his latest pencil drawings are the most effective examples.
