EXHIBmONS AND MEETINGS 1.1- An exhibition of holograms and holography was held at the Royal Academy, London, during Mar. and Apr. 1977. The exhibition, entitled 'Light Fantastic', was arranged by J. Wolff (technologist), N. Phillips (physicist) and A. Furst (designer). A complementary book was published by Bergstrom and Boyle Books Ltd., 22 Maddox St., London, WIR 9PG, England. 1.2- The Museum of Holography at II Mercer St., in the Soho district of New York City, was opened by Mayor Beame on 8 Dec. 1976. Since then over 10,000 people, including the Nobel Prize winner and inventor of holography, Dr. Dennis Gabor, have seen the inaugural exhibition entitled 'Through the Looking Glass' (8 Dec. 1976 to 27 Apr. 1977). For further information see 1.2. 1.4- Lake Forest College offered three consecutive five-day 'hands-on' workshops on holography from 6-10, 13-17 and 20-24 June 1977. Each consisted of ten 3-hour sessions in which students worked in small groups under supervision to make various fundamental holograms. Details obtainable from T. H. Annexe, Leicester Polytechnic, Leicester, England. 1.6- The 29th Technical Exhibition of the Oil and Colour Chemists' Association was held at Alexandra Palace, London, from 22 to 25 Mar. 1977. Details obtainable from OCCA, 967 Harrow Rd., Wembley, Middlesex, HAO 2SF, England. 1.7- An international conference entitled 'Colour Technology- Today and Tomorrow' was held at Basle, Switzerland, (in addition to the international exhibition 'Intercolour 77') from II to 15 Oct. 1977. Details obtainable from Mack-Brooks Exhibitions Ltd., 62-64 Victoria St., St. Albans, Herts., ALl 3XT, England. 327 1.8- A unique exhibition of'Horses', selected from the Seton Murray Thomson Collection, was held at various museums and art galleries throughout Scotland from Nov. 1976 to May 1977 as part of the Scottish Arts Council Calendar. The 50-year-old collection of model horses demonstrates the collector's obsession as a 'challenge to our conception of aesthetic judgement'. Details obtainable from the SAC (address given in 1.8). 1.10- A public lecture on 'Science and Society' was held on 4 Feb. 1977 at the University of Surrey Institute for Educational Technology, Guildford, England. 1.11- Video shows were held at the Parachute Center for Cultural Affairs by D. Graham, R. Werden and C. Campbell on 16 Jan. 1977, and by Clive Robertson on 21 Dec. 1976 and 23 Jan. 1977.
