Abstracts/ Resumes 617 CONTRIBUTORS DONALD F. DAVIS teaches history at the University of Ottawa. Author of Conspicuous Production: Automobiles and Elites in Detroit, he is currently researching the history of Canadian urban transit in the 1914-50 period. BARBARA LORENZKOWSKI is a doctoral candidate in the history department at the University of Ottawa. JOHN MANLEY teaches North American history in the Department of Historical and Critical Studies at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, England. He has published several articles on various aspects of the history ofthe Canadian Communist Party, and is currently completing a monograph on its industrial politics during the interwar years. SEAN PURDY is completing his doctorate in the Department of History at Queen's University. His thesis is a social history of Regent Park housing project in Toronto. MARGUERITE VAN DIE holds a joint appointment at Queen's Theological College and the Department of History, Queen's University. She is codirector ofa project on Religion and Politics in Canada and the United States funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts. ...
