Abstract

With her new anthology Theatres of Affect Erin Hurley brings together seventeen contributors who each address various aspects of the “affective turn” in Canadian theatre and performance. Split into four main sections—“Affective Training and Emotion Management (or Acting),” “Feeling (Too) Close,” “Awkward Feeling,” and “Empathy”—the anthology combines theoretical and historical approaches to affect with incursions into current practice in the form of five “Artistic Statements” from working artists.
