In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • Letter to the Editors

August 10, 2014

I am writing to please correct an error in my article in your last issue, volume 22, number 1 (Spring 2014), entitled “Architect as Developer and the Postwar U.S. Apartment, 1946–1960.” On page 35, I indicate that during World War II Donald Leigh Hardison designed temporary wartime housing in Richmond, California. In fact he worked at Mare Island and in Richmond as a naval architect designing ships. I discovered my mistake while interviewing Hardison’s widow, Betty Hardison, and daughter, Jan Brown, in El Cerrito, California, on July 31, 2014. For further evidence please also see Hardison’s obituary, which I cite in note 28 in the article. Thank you for the opportunity to set the record straight.

Sincerely,

Matthew Gordon Lasner Hunter
