Abstract

The composer describes the making and performance of A Noite, Porém E Quebrou, scored for instrument of low-pitch range, computer and audiotape. Computers were used to generate the tape material, and a computer is used in the performance of the work to produce the score in real time and to conduct the performance. Compositional algorithms employed in the creation of the piece are based on a dynamical system known as the ‘chaotic gingerbread man’ and on a Markov process.
