  • Dr. Vern G. WilliamsenJune 11, 1926 – July 29, 2014

Vern G. Williamsen excelled as a scholar, teacher, and mentor. He taught for many years, over twenty of them at his alma mater, the University of Missouri in Columbia. His books, essays, reviews, and professional activities demonstrate his talent and his devotion to Golden Age Spanish drama. His special enthusiasm for his work was clear in each of his projects, and the recipients of his research are countless. Vern Williamsen was a long-term friend of the Bulletin of the Comediantes. We honor Vern’s boundless generosity and contributions to the field, and we send our most profound condolences to his family, including his wife Clara and their daughter Amy, herself a most distinguished scholar of early modern Spanish literature and culture.
