2 OHIO VALLEY HISTORY Stephen Campbell is a Ph.D. candidate in the department of history at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His work connects Andrew Jackson’s Bank war with the communications revolution of the antebellum era. Ann Clymer Bigelow is a retired senior editor of the Current Digest of the PostSoviet Press. She has published articles on the care of the mentally ill and other topics in early Ohio history. Stephen E. Towne is associate university archivist at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis. He has authored several articles and books relating to Indiana in the Civil War era, and is co-editor of Indiana’s War: The Civil War in Documents (2009). Dr. Charles T. Ambrose is professor at the College of Medicine, University of Kentucky. His long interest in the history of the Medical Department of Transylvania University prompted this study of medical alumni serving on both sides of the American Civil War. Contributors ...
