Abstract

This paper suggests that Cervantes based his work “La fuerza de la sangre” on a real, though somewhat distorted, event possibly performed by Luis de Vargas Manrique, a very important and well-known man in town. This nobleman was also a poet and a friend to both Lope de Vega and Cervantes. In this essay, other relevant considerations for the understanding of the Cervantes’s novel are given.
