Abstract

After over thirty years as an artist-teacher in Canada, as well as in Australia and the UK, David Latham shares deeply held convictions about acting training with Diana Belshaw: a core commitment to “the making of meaning”; the need for specificity in approaches to acting training; the complexities of language and culture; the tension between “employability” and “vision,” “vocational training” and “artistry”; and the primacy of the development of the imagination. Recorded 4 October 2013.
