Gender and Sexuality in Acting Training

How are questions of diversities in gender and sexuality approached in acting training today? Virginie Magnat (moderator), Sherry Bie, Brendan Healey, Matthew Jocelyn, and Muriel Miguel engage in pivotal issues of ethics in the representation of gender, intersections between gender and ethnicity in the training space, finding ways to work against the patriarchal canon, developing training modalities for gender diverse bodies, and the many kinds of “soft skills” necessary for trainers to help lead actors in training through difficult personal and collective materials.
