Editor's Note

With this spring issue TAPA enters its second year of twice-yearly publication. The transition to a new format and publication schedule has been completed, but TAPA will continue its experiments with content. Volume 134 (2004) will offer a paper more substantial (and longer) than a standard journal article split between its two issues; for volume 135 (2005) a special issue is planned. I remain eager to consider brief sets of papers (see Editor's Note to volume 132). But with volume 135 my term as Editor will come to an end. A successor chosen in 2004 will be working through 2005 on the issues you will receive in 2006. I will reserve valedictory remarks for my final issue, but on this occasion I would like to record my gratitude to the out-going Vice President for Publications, Jeff Rusten, whose leadership and support during the transition to the new TAPA format were indispensable. Further thanks go, as always, to the referees, some seventy of them this year, whose efforts ensure that TAPA is a journal worth reading and, beyond that, provide crucial assistance to authors developing their ideas for publication in TAPA or elsewhere. Finally, I would like to thank the past and present Deans of the Faculty at Amherst College, Lisa Raskin and Gregory Call, who provided funding for editorial assistance for TAPA, and to Randall Souza '05, who provided the assistance in this issue and its predecessor.
