I, Ion sinu Radu Grecu, I truly and faithfully put my deed in the honest hand of master Dan and his wife, so that it is known that by my deed I married; I was a foreigner who settled in their courtyard for six years, and because I could not afford to marry somewhere else, I willingly asked the girl in their house, that is Neaga, the daughter of the gypsy Neculi, in order to marry her. So I pledged to them that from Saint George until Saint Dumitri I shall be free to earn my life, but my wife will stay in their courtyard together with the rest of the slaves. And from Saint Dimitri in the winter to Saint George I shall be submitted to the court like the other slaves together at work or whatever he puts me to or orders me to do. And when this deed was prepared there were other honest people as witnesses, who shall countersign below.
