In this special issue of Victorian Review, we welcome guest editors Joy Dixon and Naomi Hetherington, who have assembled a rich collection of articles on the fascinating and timely topic of religion and sexuality.

To complement this theme, the Victorian Review forum focuses on the theme of chapter and verse. We challenged experts in religion, literature, and history to examine the importance of one passage from a key religious text and to explain its importance in the period. We are excited by the provocative responses we received, from Emma Mason’s analysis of poetic references to Psalm 130 and Timothy Larsen’s explorations of race politics and Acts 17:26 to Clinton Bennett’s exploration of retribution in Qur’an 2:178.

Finally, we thank the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada for awarding us a further three-year grant in support of the journal.
