Forthcoming Conference

The Thirty-second Annual Meeting of the Western Society for French History will be held at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, September 30–October 2, 2004. The featured speakers and their topics will include Michel Cassan (Limoges), "Réconciliation et devoir d'oubli dans la France des guerres de religion"; Françoise Cribier (CNRS), "Eléments d'une histoire sociale des parisiens du 20ème siècle"; Denis Crouzet (Sorbonne), "Fiacre de Ste-Marguerite: Un visionnaire parisien"; and Colin Jones (Warwick), "The Archaeology of Modernity in Nineteenth-Century Paris." Papers on all topics related to French history, culture, and society will be considered. Additional program and venue information is posted on the WSFH Web site (www.lib.umich.edu/wsfh). Local arrangements are being made by David Troyansky (david.troyansky@ttu.edu).

Prospective participants are encouraged to submit proposals for complete sessions, but individual paper proposals are also acceptable. Please submit a short (one- or two-paragraph) description of the proposed paper, along with a short (one-page) CV. Include all contact information (postal and e-mail addresses) and anticipated audiovisual needs. Send paper proposals to Hines Hall, Department of History, Auburn University, Auburn, AL 36849–5207. Electronic submission is preferred; e-mail to hallhin@auburn.edu. Submissions should be received no later than April 1, 2004.
