9 Editors’ Note • This issue of Victorian Review marks an exciting new development in the evolution of the journal, as it moves from the University of Alberta to the University ofVictoria. We would like to extend our warm thanks to Susan Hamilton, the journal’s former editor, and to Peter Sinnema, the former book reviews editor, for their many years of service to the journal. In acknowledgement of Susan’s efforts and achievements, we are delighted to establish the annual Hamilton Prize for the best graduate student essay in the field ofVictorian studies. (Please see the formal announcement on page167.) As the first issue under the new editorship goes to press, the editorial team would like to thank the journal’s outgoing advisory board and to introduce the members of the incoming board. We welcome to our production team Jason Dewinetz, award-winning typographer and book designer, who created the journal’s new look.We are also pleased to announce the journal’s new partnership with the University ofVictoria’s ProfessionalWriting Program. Under the direction of Susan Doyle, Director ofWriting, students in the program will hone their professional skills in copy editing the journal. Finally, we would like to acknowledge the generous financial support of the journal by the Department of English and the Dean of Humanities at the University ofVictoria. As the journal embarks on this new phase of its existence, we very much look forward to ongoing intellectual conversation and collaboration with our readers and authors. We launch this conversation with a special forum on Victorian Studies and Interdisciplinarity, a forum that goes to the heart of Victorian Review’s mandate. In this forum, and in the articles and reviews that follow it, we are proud to bring to readers an international and interdisciplinary exchange of ideas, and we thank the many scholars whose generosity in vetting articles makes our work possible. We are delighted to announce that the next publication of Victorian Review will be a special issue on Elizabeth Barrett Browning: History, Culture, Politics, guest edited by Michele Martinez, Department of English and American Literature and Language, Harvard University.
