An examination of Lauren Berlant’s thinking about the good life in the context of eighteenth-century writings on nostalgia, a disease that was understood in geographic (spatial) rather than temporal terms. This essay seeks to understand how fantasies of the good life change as we consider of the shifting relation between labor, space, and time.
