2013 marks the bicentenary of the birth of Søren Kierkegaard. Like few figures of Western modernity, Kierkegaard's work and influences encompass a truly capacious array of disciplines, from philosophy and religion, to aesthetics and literature, social theory and much more. To mark the event, the Humanities Center at Johns Hopkins University, in collaboration with the Royal Danish Embassy in Washington D.C., hosted an international conference on September 20-21. We are pleased to publish a selection of the papers presented on that occasion in the present volume. [End Page vi]
