Together the two issues present a variety of different perspectives on her work and testify to her strong continu­ ing influence on W estern thought. However, even though we have devoted two full issues to essays about her works— something we have never done in the 74 years of our publication— it was inevita­ ble from the outset that some im portant aspects of her work would be excluded, if only by space limitations. Despite this, we trust that our readers will see in these two issues the deep adm iration and respect we have for Arendt, who was my colleague here at the New School from 1967 until her death in 1975.
