JER Article Prize

The editors are pleased to announce that Ruth W. Herndon of Bowling Green State University has been awarded the JER article prize for her essay “Poor Women and the Boston Almshouse in the Early Republic” (Fall 2012). The article was part of a special themed issue entitled “Women on the Edge: Life at Street Level in the Early Republic.” The prize committee consisted of Susan Juster, Richard Newman, and Thomas N. Baker. Special thanks to the committee for its excellent and efficient work!

New Web Address and Services for H-SHEAR

H-SHEAR, the network service sponsored by the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic, has moved to a new web location and offers new services. The former “list” no longer operates; the network is entirely web-based. H-SHEAR is dedicated to enhancing scholarly communication on the history of the early American republic.
