Crossings and Complexities of Gender in Guadeloupe and Martinique: Reflections on French Caribbean Expressions
Abstract

Abstract:

This essay reflects on expressions of “trans” experiences and existences – here “gender complexity” – in the French Antilles. It brings together anthropological, cultural, linguistic, political, and personal articulations from Guadeloupe and Martinique (as individual sociocultural regions and overseas departments) as it points to ways for considering their transregional and trans-Atlantic crossings.
