Dear Reader,

I would like to update you on some developments for Archives of Asian Art:

  • ᐧ this volume is the last to benefit from the inimitable ministrations of our long-time editor Naomi Noble Richard (for more on Naomi, please see p. vi); starting with volume 63, manuscript editing will be the responsibility of Manuscript Editors Joseph Newland and Sheryl Conkelton;

  • ᐧ manuscripts on all periods of Asian art are welcome; the Editorial Board encourages and wishes to publish original, innovative scholarship on all aspects of Contemporary Asian Art are welcome and encouraged; the Editorial Board wishes to publish original, innovative scholarship on all aspects of contemporary Asian Art;

  • ᐧ we also solicit short (approximately 1000–2000 word) scholarly ‘Museum’ articles on a specific object, a display or exhibition, history of collecting, or materials/technical analysis or conservation as an opportunity for intellectual engagement between museum professionals and art historians;

  • Archives of Asian Art will be published two times per year beginning with volume 63, number 1 (Spring 2013) and followed by volume 63, number 2 (Fall 2013).
