Abstract

This essay examines the fictional and autobiographical texts of a new generation of women who are writing about post-independence Algeria and who are examining the effects of the current political crisis, especially its consequences for women. Overtly political and gendered in nature, their work denounces the present violence, opposes the Family Code, and calls for democracy and equal rights for women.
