Notes for Contributors

The Emily Dickinson Journal welcomes submissions on all aspects of Dickinson and her work. Most manuscripts accepted for publication by the Journal are article-length, twenty to thirty typescript pages, but on occasion we do publish shorter or longer pieces. We do not publish poetry or unsolicited book reviews.

Manuscripts should be prepared according to current MLA style, with bibliographic information cited by textual or parenthetical reference to a complete list of Works Cited. The one exception is reference to standard editions of Dickinson's poems and letters. For examples of how to format such references, see the articles in this or any recent issue.

If at all possible, prepare both a paper copy of the submission and a word-processing file, the latter preferably in MS Word's .doc format or in Rich Text Format (.rtf ). Send all editorial correspondence and the paper copy of any submissions to Gary Lee Stonum, EDJ Editor, English Department, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH 44106-7117. The computer file may be included as a disk or sent as an attachment to the Journal's email address: xx100@case.edu.
