RMMLA—Mellen Press Book Award

RMMLA—Mellen Press Book Award On April 21, 1990, the Executive Board of the Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association agreed to sponsor an annual RMMLA-Mellen Award for an Outstanding Monograph in Literary Studies. The author ofthe successful manuscript will be awarded a stipend of $1,000 and the manuscript will be published by Mellen Press. For the purpose of this monograph series, Literary Studies includes criticism, historical backgrounds, and cultural relations. Manuscripts may be in English, French, German, or Spanish. The first award will be announced at the 1991 convention in Tempe, Arizona. Manuscripts for the award are due in the office of the Executive Director April 1, 1991. RMMLA members who are willing to serve as reviewers are invited to send a letter to that effect along with a current vita to the Executive Director. Guidelines for the RMMLA-Mellen Award: 1.Only book-length manuscripts will be considered. 2.Only manuscripts by members of RMMLA will be considered. 3.Only unpublished manuscripts will be considered. 4.Manuscripts must be submitted as anonymous. The title page should contain only the title ofthe manuscript and all references in text and notes which would identify the author should be removed. Indicate name, manuscript title, address, telephone number, and identify the general field and century/period covered by the manuscript on a separate sheet. 5.Edited collections of essays by various authors will not be considered. 6.An author may submit more than one manuscript. 7.Manuscripts under consideration by another publisher will not be considered. 8.Readers of manuscripts will be experts in the field and will be selected by the RMMLA Book Award Committee. 9.The manuscript format should conform to that ofthe latest MLA stylesheet. 10.Two clear and easy-to-read copies of the manuscript should be submitted. Final copies of successful manuscripts will require one very clear, easily scanned copy. 11.The prize will be $1,000 paid by the Mellen Press and publication by the Mellen Press. 12.Manuscript deadline is April 1, 1991. Announcement of the winner will be made at the 1991 RMMLA convention. 199 ...
