In Faith Hillis's article, "Ukrainophile Activism and Imperial Governance in Russia's Southwestern Borderlands," which appeared in Kritika 13, 2 (2012): 301-26, the words "the bloodletter" on 308 should not have been placed in quotation marks. The phrase is Kulish's general characterization of Khmel´nitskii rather than a direct quotation.
