In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:

  • About This Issue
  • Christopher J. Kauffman

We are pleased to publish our first issue on Priests in the American Catholic Community. We are also publishing the first symposium review by one of our Consulting Editors, Justus George Lawler. We will now be publishing reviews of books by Consulting and Associate Editors in future issues. Because Lawler's book is of such significance it will generate many reviews. To publish its first review is a mark of distinction for our journal.

Of course, we are very grateful to the many contributors to this issue. Bryan T. Froehle is Program Director and Professor of Practical Theology in the School of Theology and Ministry at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida. Paula Kane is Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. Christopher J. Kauffman is the editor of this journal since 1983. Justus George Lawler has been a professor, publisher, editor of four journals, and author of fourteen books. Paul J. Philibert, OP, is a former Professor of Pastoral Theology and is now a nationally recognized preacher serving as resident chaplain at the monastery of Dominican Nuns in Lufkin, Texas. William L. Portier is Professor of Theology at the University of Dayton. Thomas J. Shelley is Professor of American Catholic History at Fordham University. C.J.T.
