This article utilizes the historical placement(s) of Jewish feminist Queers in a discussion of identity politics and theories. Brettschneider argues that neither modernist nor postmodernist theories of subjectivity appropriately respond to the situations of many minority groups. We need to listen to the calls from marginalized groups and work with identities in a progressive politics as we pursue alternative and more transformative modes of democracy.
