It is not a common practice among the Tiv people to have a lineage of oral poets. The case of the Tsav family is, therefore, a unique one which calls for attention. The goal of this essay is to investigate the poetic praxis and prowess of this emerging family of poets in which both mother and son are poets. The interest here is on issues of initiation, apprenticeship, and common or divergent perspectives, as the case may be. Under these perspectives, the use of technology and the themes explored by these budding poets will be highlighted.
