Student Essay Prize The Southern Jewish Historical Society will award $500 for the best paper dealing with SouthernJewry by a current graduate or undergraduate college student. Fellowships are awarded each year to scholars in Jewish Studies who hold non-tenured university positions or who have received tenure after September 1993. Fellows will spend a year in Israel participating in a structured program in their field of study. Candidates wishing to apply for a Fellowship for the academic year 1994/1995 must meet the following ~riteria: 1) Maximum age of 40 on September 1, 1994; 2) Ph.D. degree by January 1, 1994; 2) Fluency in Hebrew; 4) Permament non-Israeli residence abroad; and 5) Involvement specifically in the teaching of courses in Jewish studies.
