Educational News Doctoral Dissertation Fellowships in Jewish Studies Grants are available to students preparing for academic careers in Jewish Studies or whose dissertations relate integrally to Jewish life and culture. The purpose of the grant is to enable the completion of work on the dissertation. Applicants must have completed all academic requirements and should be in the advanced stages ofwriting their dissertations. Applications will be judged on the basis of the potential contribution of the individual to the field of Jewish scholarship. The amount of the grams will be determined by the Academic Advisory Committee; however, awards last year ranged from $4,000 to $6,000. Eligibility is limited to citizens and permanent residents of the United States. Applications must be received by December 31st for the next academic year. The prize will provide a $3,000 grant towards the cost of publication for Ph.D. dissertations relating to Jewish life in Israel or the Diaspora from 1880 to the present. Applicants must have completed their dissertations and have a commitment for publication from an academic or university press.
