BRIEFER NOTICES Prepared by John and Barbara Curtis The annual meeting of the Friends Historical Association was held on November 8, 1982, at the Friends Meeting House, Fourth and Arch Sts., Philadelphia. Following dinner the President, John M. Moore, opened the meeting with reports from the various committee chairpersons. The names of Margaret H. Bacon, J. William Frost, Willman Spawn and Eleanore Price Mather and George Vaux were presented and approved to serve on the Board of Directors for die period 1982-1985. After a brief summary by John Moore of a number of Quaker historical works on exhibition, published in 1982, Professor Charles Cherry of the department of English at Villanova University spoke on "English Roots of Friends Hospital," using illustrative slides. Charles Cherry has been a T. Wistar Brown Fellow in Quaker Studies at Haverford College during die 1982-1983 academic year. # * * The Conference of Quaker Historians and Archivists is beginning to plan for its fifth biennial gathering. The meeting will take place in Providence, RI, Friday, June 15 to Sunday, June 17, 1984·. An invitation has been extended by the Moses Brown School for the meeting to be held at die school which will list the conference as the culminating event in its own celebration of its two hundredth year in Quaker education in New England. JoAnn Robinson, of the Department of History at Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD 21239, is program coordinator; Thomas D. S. Bassett is assisting Barbara Curtis, formerly of the Quaker Collection at Haverford College, who serves as Convenor for the 1984 Conference in making the arrangements.
