Abstract

The paper explores "networking" (more in the social rather than the digital sense) between experts in lexicography and related disciplines. This is done by surveying the lexicographic scene in four European countries (the United Kingdom, Spain, France and Germany) in terms of languages used, academies, universities, associations, dictionary publishers and a selection of relevant publications, with websites for most of the cited institutions. An attempt is made to detect trends in the way experts can interact by various means, and how this can affect relations with other fields, and what special perspectives are emerging in dictionary research.
