Warren Schmaus is Professor of Philosophy at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he has taught since completing graduate studies in the history and philosophy of science at the University of Pittsburgh. He is the author of Durkheim's Philosophy of Science and the Sociology of Knowledge (Chicago, 1994), in additional to many articles concerning the philosophy and history of the social sciences and the role of values in scientific inquiry. Currently, he is working on a book that re-evaluates Durkheim's sociological theory of the categories in the context of the history of philosophical theories of the categories in nineteenth century France.

Gregory Moynahan is assistant professor of history at Bard College.

Thomas A. Ryckman received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1986. He has taught at the University of Michigan, Northwestern University, University of Illinois at Chicago, and University of California, Berkeley. He is currently Visiting Fellow of Clare Hall College, University of Cambridge.

David Hyder studied philosophy at Yale, Göttingen, and Toronto. His research interests include the philosophies of Wittgenstein and Russell, Kant's philosophy of science, and the history and philosophy of science. He is currently Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Constance.
