ANNOUNCEMENTS On Miracle Ground VIII: The Eighth International Lawrence Durrell Conference will be held at the University of San Diego on June 24-28, 1994. The National Endowment for the Humanities 27th Annual Report is now available. The Modern Language Association announces that it will award eleven book prizes in 1994, including a newly established MLA prize for First Books and four awards supported by the Aldo and Jeanne Scaglione Fund. Each prize consists of a cash award and a certificate . Only books published in 1993 are eligible to compete for the 1994 annual prizes; however, books published in the two preceding years are eligible for the biennial awards. Prizes named in bold face type are open to nonmembers and members of the MLA; those in regular type are open only to members ofthe association.
