THE CONTRIBUTORS benjamin Friedlander is a doctoral candidate at suNY-Buffalo. With David Allen he is co-editor of The Collected Prose of Charks Olson, brought out in 1997 by the University of California Press. Wendy graham is an Associate Professor of English at Vassar College . She has recently completed a book dealing with issues of gender and sexuality, Henry James' Thwarted Love. KiMBERLY drake teaches American literature and writing at Virginia Wesleyan College. She is revising her dissertation on Depression-era protest novels, as well as beginning a project on determinism and African-American detective novels of the Depression era. dieter paúl polloczek is a researcher at the Center for Literary Anthropology at the University of Constance. His books include Vernetzungsstrukturen: Faulkner, Pynchon, Barthelme and Literature and Legal Discourse: Equity and Ethics From Sterne to Conrad, forthcoming from Cambridge University Press. Louise speed received her graduate degree from Wayne State University where she works with international programs. She has also published short fiction and pursues independent scholarship in cultural and film studies. joan dayan teaches in the English Department at the University of Atizona, and is author, most recently, of Haiti, History, and the Gods. ...
