THE CONTRIBUTORS timothy H. scHERMAN is now an Assistant Professor at Northeastern Illinois University. He is currently completing a book tentatively entitled "Going Public: Authorship and its Production in Antebellum America," and preparing an edition of selected prose by pioneer feminist Elizabeth Oakes Smith. Eduardo cadava teaches in the English Department at Princeton University. He is currently completing a manuscript on the politics of Emetson's meteorological reflections entitled Emerson and the Climates ofAmerican History and a book on Walter Benjamin's concept of history entitled Words ofLight: Theses on the Photography ofHistory. Ellen j. goldner has written articles on Edith Wharton and Mary Shelley. She is currently working on a book about lies in fiction of the mid- to late-nineteenth century and the disintegration of the subject amid global markets. william doreski's recent books are The Years ofOur Friendship: Robert Lowell and Allen Tate (Mississippi, 1990) and Ghost Train (poetry— Nightshade Press, 1991). He is currently working on a book to be entitled Wallace Stevens in Connecticut, a sample of which will soon appear in Twentieth Century Literature. barbara ching teaches English at Memphis State University. She has published atticles on neo-classical burlesque and is working on a full-length study of forms of literary and musical burlesque. ...
